In the wake of recent terrorist & kidnapping events, ASD was founded on the premise that no one should be defenseless against an unwarranted attack. With this in mind, we have developed practical, real-world, self-defense tactics to enable and empower everyday citizens to successfully defend themselves.

Our courses are designed for average people to learn simple yet deadly techniques to escape and (if necessary) disable or destroy an attacker.

Formed in 2003, Action Self Defense was created to provide quality, effective, self defense instruction for those seeking self-confidence and self-defense techniques in threatening situations.

About Us

Diane Reeve President & CEO Ms. Reeve holds a 6th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, as well as Black Belts in three other styles (Kenpo, Kobudo, Jujutsu). She holds a Master Degree in Education, and has been owner and chief instructor of Vision Martial Arts Center since 1995. Ms. Reeve has been certified by World Black Belt, Inc., to teach the American Airlines cockpit & cabin crews self defense, and has done so on an ongoing basis. She has promoted over 120 people to Black Belt. She has written numerous articles for martial arts magazines.

Tim Kirby Tim Kirby started his martial arts training in 1973, earning his black belt from Mr. Allen Steen in 1976. He currently holds the rank of 7th degree black belt under GrandMasters Jack Hwang and Allen Steen. Tim has the rare distinction of being one of Texas’ most successful black belt fighters to date, winning virtually every major tournament in the Southwest, in forms and fighting, at least once. He is a 6-time Texas State Champion and 7-time United States Champion. Tim was the first recipient of the Golden Greek Award for the best all-around black belt in Texas, and winner of more double grand championships than any black belt competitor in Texas karate history. He was a state, national and international kickboxing champion. Kirby was inducted into the Texas Martial Arts Hall of Fame in the year 2000. He also produced many types of martial arts events and has performed virtually hundreds of demonstrations including shows for the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Mavericks and Round Rock Express. Tim is also a gifted motivational speaker. These are just a few of the reasons we’re proud to have Mr. Tim Kirby and his 30+ years of experience as part of our team.
